Real Madrid win the first Clasico of the season

Madrid, Spain

Real Madrid have won 3-1 in the first Clasico of the season at Camp Nou. This was the second league defeat for Barcelona this season. With this win, Zidane is unbeaten at Camp Nou as a manager in Clasicos.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona lost league matches before the Clasico, but it was truly a wonderful game of football at the Camp Nou. Both sides had their chances but it was Real Madrid who emerged victorious in the end. Federico Valverde scored the opener in the fifth-minute for Real Madrid. Barca responded through Fati within three minutes. The game was level ath 1-1 at the half time. Real looked more threatening in the first half.

Barca were better in the start of the second half. They created few wonderful opportunities but failed to finish. Coutinho got the best chance but he headed wide. Real took the lead from a penalty, taken by their captain Sergio Ramos. The decision was a controversial one, Lenglet pulled in the shirt of Ramos and was down in the Penalty box. After checking with the VAR referee allowed the penalty. After taking the lead, Real set into the game nicely. Barca coach Koeman did go for an all out attack in the end, bringing strikers in for defenders, but it backfired as Modric scored the third goal and killed the game in the last minutes.
