Lionel Messi confirms that he stays at Barcelona

Lionel Messi confirms that he will stay at Barcelona for the upcoming season in an interview given to Goal.

"I wasn't happy and I wanted to leave. I have not been allowed this in any way and I will stay at the club so as not to get into a legal dispute. The management of the club led by Bartomeu is a disaster", he said to Goal. Messi is staying as he doesn't want to start a legal war with his beloved club. Messi said that he has been saying to the Club president that he wanted to leave for the past 12 months. Messi was also critical about the club's management. "The truth is that there is no project at this club. They just plug holes as and when things happen. I would never go for a war against the club of my life. That's why I am staying", says Messi.

Messi said that Club president Bartomeu didn't kept his word. Bartomeu initially told Messi that it's his decision to leave or stay. But in the end, Bartomeu changed his mind that the only way to leave  was to pay 700 million release clause.
