Juventus and Barcelona are off to a winning start in Champions League

Barcelona and Juventus have started the Champions League season with a win. Morata led Juventus to 2-0 victory against Dynamo Kiev by scoring two goals. Barcelona won 5-1 against Ferencvaros to kickstart their campaign.

 

Cristiano Ronaldo was ruled out as he was tested positive for Covid-19. Juventus suffered an early setback as Giorgio Chiellini had to be substituted in the 19th minute with a hamstring injury. Both goals came in the second half. Morata scored the first goal in the first minute of the second half itself. He doubled the tally in the closing stages to complete a comfortable win for the Italian Champions.

 

Lionel Messi became the first player to score in 16 consecutive Champions League seasons as Barcelona raised to a 5-1 victory over Ferencvaros. Messi scored the first goal from penalty, which was his 116th goal in the Champions League. Fati added a second before the break. Coutinho scored the third goal for Barca early in the second half, But Pique was sent off for a foul which cost Barcelona a penalty. Igor Kharatin scored the penalty and Ferencvaros thought about a comeback. But teenager Pedri and Ousmane Dembele made sure that won't happen.

 

Juventus are to host Barcelona in Turin next week in the Champions League matchday 2. Both teams will approach the match confidently as they are off to a winning start in the tournament.
